Great Is.org is the online intercessory prayer and devotion portal of At The Cross Global Ministries.  Through weekly devotions, Shaniqua Rischer, shares with readers her journey with God. Through her writings and the Great Is Team, testimonies of fear, faith, and resilience are given.  Shaniqua believes that by sharing her walk with Christ with other, it gives other the opportunity to discover their authentic selves and live whole heartedly and a holy life with God. When asked about prayer and Great Is, Shaniqua had this to say:

When you pray with and for people, their victory becomes your victory!

Prayer is defined as a petition, supplication or praise addressed to God. Prayer is a part of an intimate conversation with God subject to both parties speaking and listening.  Intercessory prayer is the act of praying on the behalf of others and is something all Christians are called to do.  Just as the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf before the Lord, we too are called to intercede for others in prayer.

I first started living a life of prayer in 2000.  Through the years, I have realized my faith is directly correlated to my prayer life and my conversations with God.  As a Masters student in Christian Education, I was pushed to learn more about God and prayer than my previous superficial understanding.  As a regular person that believes in the power of prayer and through default, I have become an intercessor for many.   Recently, after battling a health issue, a friend of mine stated that I needed to get better soon because within our group of friends, I keep the rest of them going.  Other friends have told me that my openness about my faith, the joys and struggles of my journey, has helped them on their own journey.  My hope is that this site will be the same for you.  Although I am extremely private, God has repeatedly placed in my heart the need to share my journey of faith with others so they too can be victorious in their faith struggles.  At times I have refused or was too wounded to share, but it is during those times of heeding His voice that I learned how much my openness helped others.

Moses said to Joshua, ‘Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.’ As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning…Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.  He said, ‘For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD. The LORD will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.’ – Exodus 17: 8-16

Just as Moses held up the staff of the Lord before Joshua and his armies to achieve victory, I hold up my personal struggles and insights to you.  This site is not only my sharing of faith with you, it’s dedicated to my God who teaches me daily about His character, His love, and the gift of prayer.  By sharing my journey with you, I am also sharing my prayers with you and I hope you will utilize this site as a place to submit your prayers.  As a friend once shared, “when you pray with and for people, their victory becomes your victory”.
